Practicing with Formulas

  1. From your resource files open the file  formulas.xls.  in the numbers resources folder or download now.
  2. Icon: Class disk Insert your Class disk and Save As  formulas-done-Lastname-Firstname.xlsx  in the folder of your choice.
  3. Enter the formulas for the questions below in column A in the cell with the same number as the question. (# 1 goes in cell A1, # 2 goes in A2,…)
     
    1. Add the value in cell C5 to the value in cell C10.
    2. Subtract the value in cell C10 from the value in cell C5
    3. Multiply the value in cell D4 by the value in cell D8
    4. Divide the value in cell D5 by the value in cell C4.
    5. Raise the value in cell D4 to the power 5.
    6. Average the values in the range C5:E10.
    7. Find the largest value in the range C5:E10.
    8. Find the smallest value in the range C5:E10.
    9. Count the number of cells that are not blank in the range C5:E10.
    10. Add the values in the range C5:E10.
    11. Add the values in the range C5:E10 and divide by the number of values there are in the range C5:E10.
    12. Add the values in the cells C5 and D6 and then divide by the value in cell E4.
    13. For rows 4, 5, and 6 multiply the value in column C by the value in column D and add up the products.
  4. Create a header showing your name, the date, and Exercise: Formulas.
  5. Icon: Class disk Save.

  6. Print Print.
  7. Show the formulas. (CTRL + `) Change to Landscape orientation. Resize columns to make this fit on one page but be sure the formulas show completely. Check Print Preview!
  8. Print Print again with the formulas showing. Close the workbook without saving again.
