Text link |
![]() |
A text link is a word or phrase that has an address attached to it. Such text, called hypertext, is normally underlined and colored, like this. The browser uses one color for links you have not visited recently and another color for links you have visited recently. The default colors are blue for unvisited and purple for visited links. You can change the default in your browser, but it is not usually a good idea to do so. The authors of pages plan their colors and backgrounds with the standard colors in mind. They may also choose specific colors for links to be sure they are readable over the page's background or to coordinate with the site's color scheme. Clicking on a link usually opens a new web page but not always. The window might scroll to another spot on the page or some other event might occur, such as hiding or revealing text or an image, playing a sound, starting an animation, or replacing an image with a different one. TAB to navigate through the linksÜ Click
on 'Text link' in the menu above to put the focus there. A outline surrounds the link that has the focus. That means your keystrokes will apply to that link. While the outline is there, pressing the ENTER key is just like clicking the link with the mouse. A mouse click somewhere else will change the focus to that spot or object. Ü Press the TAB key
repeatedly to move the focus from link
to link down this page and until the focus is up in the Address Bar.
Some browsers let the focus land on the tab or on other parts of the window before going back to the first link on the page. It can be hard to see exactly which part of the window has the focus. What is the first link on this page? Ü Use the key combo SHIFT + TAB to move up the page link by link. Ü Click on the text link this (here or above). You should be moved to a new page. Return to this page by clicking on the text link Back to Text link on the new page. © 1999 - 2017 Jan Smith |
