Jan's Working with Words

Using Microsoft Word

Lesson Versions

Newer versions: Word 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016

Archived older versions: Word 97 through 2003

Word processing is the most often used software. People use it for writing letters, reports, brochures, advertising flyers, booklets, novels... anything with words.

All word processing programs today can handle the basics of writing a letter or a school report. Whether or not you need fancier features will depend on exactly what you need to do and how often you will need to do it.

Microsoft Word is still the dominant word processing program. The various versions are mostly the same but the differences can surprise you. Word 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016 put the commands on a ribbon instead of the old interface that used menus and toolbars.

The lessons on this site will walk you through the basic features and several of the more advanced features.
