Create your own attractive letterhead as a template and write a letter using your template. Use the Letter Wizard if you wish. You can do this as a personal letter, a business letter, or on behalf of an organization.

Exercise Word 2-5: On Your Own - Letter & Template


What you will do:

Create a letter of your own
create your own letter template and save it

Start with:Class disk, Show Marks is on.

  1. Create a letterhead template. You may modify an existing template if you wish.
    Include at least:
    • A Word Art logo
    • A text box
    • Your name and address [Return address]
    • A Date field
    • Temporary text for inside address [recipient's address], salutation, and body
    • A closing and your own signature
       
  2. Add a header with your name, date, Exercise Word 2-5
     
  3. Save your template to the Student Templates folder with a name using your initials and then myletter, like  jes-myletter.dot 
     
  4. Class disk Save it again to your Class disk in the  word project2  folder with the same name as above.

  5. Print icon Print the template and close it.
     
  6. Open a new document using your new template and write a complete letter.
  7. Class disk Save the letter to your Class disk as  myletter.doc  in the  word project2  folder.

  8. Print icon Print the letter. (Since you saved the template with the header info included, it is part of the letter already!)
     
  9. Be neat! Go to the Student Templates folder and delete your template.
